Ortiz is of half Mexican descendent from his paternal lineage is half Mexican. His father was Sam Ortiz and he gave the name Tito. He had a difficult childhood because both of his parents were addicts to heroin. He was in gangs. He also used drugs such as cocaine. He was confined to juvenile halls when he was a child. He was 13 when his parents divorced. He went to Huntington Beach High School where wrestling was his sport. He was 18 when his mother kicked them out.
